In a historic mill nestled along the Cannon River in Minnesota, a 147-year-old story continues. Here you’ll find the only fully integrated domestic woolen operation still in existence – making blankets, throws and accessories, using techniques and machinery virtually unchanged over time. Each day, they weave fibers and American pride into goods with a simple beauty and durability of purpose – destined to become family heirlooms for generations to come.

When Faribault Mills was founded in 1865, it was only one of hundreds of woolen mills in the United States. Today it is the finest blanket manufacturer in America, known for the quality and beauty of its blankets and decorative throws. Between two mills, the company works with just about every commercially viable fiber and blend, including cashmere, wool, cotton, acrylic, and Ingeo (corn). It currently carries the Cannon and Cannon Royal Family licenses for blankets.

Faribault Mills is most proud of its work in developing the process of weaving and dying the all-natural Ingeo fiber. Ingeo is created by naturally synthesizing corn into a fiber suitable for weaving. Faribault Mills believes that, over time, this renewable, recyclable, sustainable, and environmentally friendly fiber will replace current alternatives derived from petroleum. The end product is not only lovely, but offers wonderful features such as its ability to wick water away, providing a more comfortable night’s sleep–plus the all-natural fiber is naturally antimicrobial. The goal of Faribault Mills is to manufacture blankets for another 140-plus years, and to deliver wonderful, heirloom-quality products every day.
