Job Description

Senior Accounting Operations Expert — Borrowing/Lending

Location: Fully remote — must be willing to work U.S. hours

Employment Type: Full-Time Employee

Compensation: $24,000/month

Start Date: Immediately

About the Role

Our firm is seeking an experienced Accounting Operations Expert to join a client engagement supporting a large cryptocurrency marketplace. This is a client-facing role where you will be embedded with the client's finance team, handling core accounting operations with a specific focus on digital asset borrowing, lending, and collateral transactions.

This is a fast-paced, high-intensity environment. The client operates in a demanding, rapidly evolving industry, and this role requires a genuine willingness to work hard and adapt quickly. Hours regularly exceed 40 per week, and workload intensifies significantly during month-end close and throughout the full month following each quarter-end. Candidates should be comfortable with a high-accountability environment and variable hours tied to the close calendar.

This is a great opportunity for an accounting professional who wants hands-on exposure to the fast-moving world of digital asset finance, working alongside a team that values precision, accountability, and adaptability.

What You'll Do

  • Support the monthly close process, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of assigned areas (this role does not own the overall close process)
  • Prepare and review journal entries, including complex entries related to digital asset lending, borrowing, and collateral arrangements
  • Perform account reconciliations across crypto and fiat-denominated accounts, including exchange wallets, custodial accounts, and collateral positions
  • Partner with the client's finance and treasury teams to ensure proper accounting treatment for digital asset transactions
  • Identify and resolve discrepancies between internal records, on-chain data, and third-party statements
  • Support internal controls and documentation standards for accounting processes involving digital assets
  • Assist with audit requests and provide supporting schedules and analysis as needed
  • Communicate clearly and professionally with client stakeholders, representing our firm's standards of quality and service

What We're Looking For

Requirements:

  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including significant exposure to accounting operations (close, reconciliations, journal entries)
  • Direct experience accounting for borrowing, lending, and collateral arrangements — cryptocurrency or other digital asset experience strongly preferred
  • Solid understanding of U.S. GAAP as applied to financial instruments and, ideally, digital assets
  • Comfort working with high transaction volumes and complex, evolving accounting treatments
  • Willingness and ability to work more than 40 hours per week as needed, particularly during month-end close and the full month following quarter-end
  • Minimum 1 year of hands-on experience with each of the following: NetSuite, FloQast, Google Suite, and Mac/macOS
  • Proven ability to use AI and automation tools to improve accounting workflows (e.g., LibreChat, Gemini, Glean, or similar tools)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the professionalism to represent our firm directly to a client
  • Ability to work independently in a fully remote setting, with availability during U.S. business hours daily
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA a plus but not required

Nice to Have:

  • Experience working at a publicly traded company
  • Basic SQL knowledge and experience with reporting/analytics tools (e.g., Snowflake, Looker)
  • Basic knowledge of digital assets and the crypto economy, or a strong desire to learn

Role Details

  • This is a full-time employee position with our firm, initially assigned to serve one of our clients in the digital asset/crypto marketplace space
  • Client assignment is expected to be a minimum of 6 months, and may be extended based on the client's ongoing needs, or you may be reassigned to other client-facing projects with our firm
  • Fully remote position — must be willing to work U.S. hours
  • Compensation: $24,000 per month

Interested candidates should submit a resume and a brief summary of relevant experience with digital asset or financial instrument accounting.
